We believe in the strength of community to help women rise above abuse and build futures rooted in freedom and possibility.
About Us
At As We Rise, we believe every woman carries within her unique talents and strengths—often hidden beneath years of pain, silence, or dependency. Our program is designed to help survivors of abuse uncover those gifts, embrace their value, and use them as a foundation to build a future that is strong, self-sufficient, and free from control.
How We Began
My mom is a domestic violence survivor — a truth I share with deep pride. Growing up, I saw firsthand that a woman can do whatever it takes to rebuild her life once she chooses to leave an abusive situation. That understanding is at the core of why our program focuses on non‑traditional career paths.
My mother spent 23 years working as a telephone installer, climbing poles and connecting phone service at a time when she was often the only woman doing that job. It was a male‑dominated field, but she showed up every day and excelled. Her sisters did the same, in the coal mines, the power plant, and the railroad. Their determination, strength, and “I can do” spirit left a lasting impression on the next generation.
Their example taught us that possibility expands when courage meets opportunity — and that’s the belief our program is built on.

Why We Exist
As We Rise exists to give women who have survived abuse the support, tools, and opportunities they need to reclaim their lives. The program was created to help women uncover their unique talents, build skills, and step into futures defined by independence rather than dependency. It exists because every woman deserves the chance to rise above her circumstances and create a life of possibility, resilience, and hope.
At As We Rise, we don’t just offer a program—we walk alongside survivors as they reclaim their power and create the futures they deserve.
Our Approach
We begin with the woman herself—her story, her strengths, her talents. By guiding her to recognize and grow those talents, we help her see what’s possible beyond dependency on her abuser. Together, we explore opportunities, including those traditionally closed off to women, and provide resources and mentorship to help her step confidently into new paths.
